My Review of the Lululemon Running Skirt

I usually work out in Yoga Pants/Capris since they keep my legs covered.
The downside is that I get really hot in them when I run on the treadmill.
A couple of months back I picked up  a pair of Lululemon Reverse Groove Shorts  and have been using them for my run/walk sessions.
Although I love them for Yoga, I don't think they are the perfect running short.
They tend to ride up in between my legs and I find that I have to keep pulling them down while running/walking, not very attractive!!

So it was time for me to pick up a pair of running shorts.
I ended up coming home with my first Running Skirt and a cute running shirt to go with it
I'm not certain on the name of the skirt, since I picked it up on Boxing Day as a finale sale and the sales girl cut of the tag with the description.  But I believe it is the exact same skirts as Run Speed Skirt but minus the pleads and the pocket for the Tennis ball at the back.

Why it was Made

  • A running skirt that performs & looks great during your 7 minute mile
  • Wicking & quick dry shell fabric with 4-way stretch
  • wetDRYwarm liner with sticky elastic stops shorts from riding up
  • Inside pocket for card/keys & even a pocket for your tennis ball!
  • Soft wicking waistband with drawstring & elastic
  • Chafe resistant - flat seamed

I have been wearing the skirt for the past week during my Walk/Run Sessions and I have to say I'm hooked on running skirts.
The Skirt is really light and keeps me cool during my run/walk.
The Shorts do tend to ride up just a bit, but I do think it's because they need to 'fall' into place, ONCE they are in place they stay put.
I like the wide waistband as they keep my mommy tummy in checked and doesn't give me love handles.
I find the skirt also very flattering and can see myself wearing it on a quick 'run' to the supermarket.
I would like to try other brands of running skirts just so I could compare then to Lululemon, but I'm very happy with my purchase.
Here I am rocking the skirt

What do you run in? Have you tired a Running Skirt?

10k for 2010

Rest Day, Walk on treadmill
10 minute warm up
90 minutes brisk walk
10 minutes cool down
10km in 1hour and 40 minutes
I finished it off with a well deserved soak in the Jacuzzi.
It was a really hard work out, especially after 60 minutes. I didn't think I would be able to finish.
But I did and I feel so much better for doing it. IT was my longest walk to date.

I started the Year with WALKING 10k for 2010!!  What a great way to start off a New Year, setting the pace for what's to come.
In 2011 I will start the year with a 11k RUN or even 11Miles.
BUT I have to admit that I actually felt very discouraged after WALKING the 10k, it was hard on my body and made me question if I will ever be able to RUN that length?
To think that there are people that RUN 10k or 10 miles in half of the time, with no effort, just amazes me!

When I should run my first race.
Should I run a 5K on January 24th , 2 days before my 37th Birthday?
Will I be able to run a 5K by then, that's only 3wks from now.

When did you know you were ready to run your first race?

Week 3: Session 2

5 minute warm up
Run for 1minute and 30 seconds and walk for 3minutes and 30 seconds (repeat 8 times/40minutes + 2 extra repeats/10minutes)
5 minute cool down
5.72km in 60 minutes

It was raining on and off all day, so my Run/Walk was on the treadmill again... I know I should really get outside.
I had a great work out, by the end my right shin was really bothering me but I managed to finish the session and even added an extra 2 repeats.
I really need to pick up a Interval Timer Watch, that way I would not have to keep looking at the display on the treadmill and once I start running outside it would make things a lot easier.

Tomorrow is a rest day.
However

RunnerMom is hosting... Run 10 for '10. Go check her out HERE.
Run 10 miles on Jan 1st 2010.
What better way to ring in 2010 with running/walking 10miles or 10km.
I wonder what my legs will think of that? We wont tell them until tomorrow morning.

Happy New Year to you all.
